Oct. 25-31: “Everlasting Punishment.”
Golden Text: “Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” (Psalms 61: 1,2)
The title of this Bible Lesson would seem to be a discouraging topic to study and pray about. But when considered through the lens of Christian Science, we see that the only time we experience “punishment” of any sort (illness, lack, conflict with others) is when we are so wrapped up in a personal, “I’m-in-control” view of life. And that freedom from this “punishment” comes with the simple act of searching and finding a better understanding that God, Divine Love, is always governing every circumstance in our lives. Enjoy the joyful experience of studying this great truth!
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” (Psalms 90: 2-8)
“The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms:” (Deuteronomy 33:27)
“It would be contrary to our highest ideas of God to suppose Him capable of first arranging law and causation so as to bring about certain evil results, and then punishing the helpless victims of His volition for doing what they could not avoid doing. Good is not, cannot be, the author of experimental sins.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 230: 11-16)
About the Bible Lesson
The weekly Bible Lesson is read and studied daily by students of Christian Science around the world, and is read on Sundays in Christian Science churches everywhere.

During these past months of, however, the Bible Lesson has continued to be read and studied, bringing the healing blessings of church to our members every day.
