May 18-24: “Soul and Body.”
Golden Text: “…the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” (I Corinthians 3:17)
This Bible Lesson lifts our thoughts to a deeper, spiritual sense of identity. Through prayerful consideration of our oneness with God, Divine Spirit, we see beyond a limited, material sense of body, and instead find inspiration, healing and liberation as we express the beauty, power and freedom of Soul, God.
“..we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” (II Corinthians 4: 18)
“Therefore we are always confident, know that that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: … We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” (II Corinthians 5: 6, 8)
“Soul is the substance, Life, and intelligence of man, which is individualized, but not in matter. Soul can never reflect anything inferior to Spirit.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 477: 22-25.)
About the Bible Lesson
The weekly Bible Lesson is read and studied daily by students of Christian Science around the world, and is read on Sundays in Christian Science churches everywhere.
While our Bellingham church has suspended Sunday services, Sunday School and Wednesday testimony meetings in order to honor Governor Inslee’s “stay at home” order, the Bible Lesson brings the healing blessings of church to our members every day.
You can read or hear it too, at this link. You can also listen live and replay the Sunday church service and Wednesday testimony meeting held at The Mother Church of Christian Science, in Boston, MA. Click here to access those services.
