Jan. 11-17: “Life”

January 11, 2021

Jan. 11-17: “Life.”

Golden Text:  “O sing unto the Lord a new song … Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name.” (Psalms 96:1, 8)

This Bible Lesson inspires and uplifts us, by helping us see that the God we worship is a living God, always active, always loving, guiding, protecting Her all her ideas.

“My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God; …the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.”

“God is infinite, the only Life, substance, Spirit, or Soul, the only intelligence of the universe, including man.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 330:11-12)

About the Bible Lesson

The weekly Bible Lesson is read and studied daily by students of Christian Science around the world, and is read on Sundays in Christian Science churches everywhere.

Our Bellingham church has temporarily suspended Sunday services, Sunday School and Wednesday testimony meetings in order to respect Washington State’s Covid-19 guidance.  However, the Bible Lesson continues to be read and studied, bringing the healing blessings of church to our members every day.

You can read or hear it too, at this link, whenever you wish, every day.

You can also listen live and replay the Sunday church service and Wednesday testimony meeting held at The Mother Church of Christian Science, in Boston, MA.  Click here to access those services.

Jan. 4-10: “Sacrament”

January 6, 2021

Jan. 4-10: “Sacrament.”

Golden Text: “. . . Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. . . . For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;” (Romans 1:7,11)

This powerful Bible Lesson urges us to think deeply about the meaning of “sacrament”, understanding it as far from a ritual honoring of Christ, Jesus.  Instead, the Lesson uplifts us to see the importance of giving freely and generously of the spirit of Christ, Truth, that has been given to us by the grace of God through our study and practice of Christianity as taught in Christian Science.

“Now as you excel in everything—in faith, in utterance, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in your love for us—see that you excel in this gracious work also. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich.  For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a man has, not according to what he has not.

“As it is written, “He who gathered much had nothing over, and he who gathered little had no lack.” (II Corinthians 8:  7, 9, 12, 15)

“The rich in spirit help the poor in one grand brotherhood, all having the same Principle, or Father; and blessed is that man who seeth his brother’s need and supplieth it, seeking his own in another’s good.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 518: 15-19)

Dec. 28-Jan. 3: “God.”

Golden Text:  “…The Lord our God, the Lord is one!” (Deuteronomy 6:4)

This Bible Lesson emphasizes the need to understand God, Good, as One, the one and only, the single source of good, the only power, source of life, intelligence, and love.

“For who in the heaven can be compared unto the Lord? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the Lord?” (Psalms 89:6)

“Question. — What is God?

Answer. — God is incorporeal, divine, supreme, infinite Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love.

Question. — Are these terms synonymous?

Answer. — They are.  They refer to one absolute God.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 465: 8-12)

Suspension of Church and Reading Room Services

June 8, 2020

Covid-19 Update, June 8, 2020

Consistent with guidance provided under Washington State’s Coronavirus Phase 2 approach, our church will continue to suspend church services (both Wednesday and Sunday), as well as Sunday School.  We will reassess this temporary suspension of services as more state guidance becomes available.

We are grateful for the online church services provided by The Mother Church. These can be enjoyed by anyone through JSH Online or The Mother Church’s website.

Please note that our Reading Room is also temporarily closed at the current time.

In the first verse of the 90th Psalm we read: “Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.” We are grateful to know that all humanity safely dwells in divine Mind.
