May 11-17: “Mortals and Immortals.”
Golden Text: “As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.” (I Corinthians15:48)
This Bible Lesson is like a joyous trumpet blast, blowing away any vestige of belief in the false idea of “earthy” mankind. It heralds instead the joyful message of Christ, Jesus, that we all can claim fully and completely our identify as heavenly, spiritual children of God.
“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” (I Corinthians 15: 51, 52)
“Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.” (Psalms 119: 18, 19)
“Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (II Corinthians 5:17)
“In the illusion that is here to-day and gone to-morrow, man would be wholly mortal, were it not that Love, the divine Principle that obtains in divine Science, destroys all error and brings immortality to light.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 305: 22-27)
About the Bible Lesson
The weekly Bible Lesson is read and studied daily by students of Christian Science around the world, and is read on Sundays in Christian Science churches everywhere.
While our Bellingham church has suspended Sunday services, Sunday School and Wednesday testimony meetings in order to honor Governor Inslee’s “stay at home” order, the Bible Lesson brings the healing blessings of church to our members every day.
You can read or hear it too, at this link. You can also listen live and replay the Sunday church service and Wednesday testimony meeting held at The Mother Church of Christian Science, in Boston, MA. Click here to access those services.
