Oct. 14-20: “Doctrine of Atonement.”
Golden Text: “…all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;” (II Corinthians 5: 18)
This remarkable Bible Lesson digs deeply into the concept of reconciliation — lifting our thoughts to see more clearly both our unbroken connection to God, Good; and to break down the barriers that seem to separate us from others. In both cases, the result is peace, inspiration and healing.
“But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; …. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;” (Ephesians 2:13, 14, 18)
“Atonement is the exemplification of man’s unity with God, whereby man reflects divine Truth, Life and Love. Jesus of Nazareth taught and demonstrated man’s oneness with the Father, and for this we owe him endless homage.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 18: 1-5.)
