April 29-May 5: “Everlasting Punishment.”
Golden Text: “…the Lord thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because the Lord thy God loved thee.” (Deuteronomy 23:5)
This Bible Lesson discards as utterly untrue, the false concept of a stern, vengeful God who punishes mankind for some wrongdoing. Instead, it reveals God, Spirit, who loves and protects cares for Her creation with an everlasting love.
“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea,I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn three.” (Jeremiah 31:3.)
“‘God is Love.’ More than this we cannot ask, higher we cannot look, farther we cannot go. To suppose that God forgives or punishes sin according as His mercies sought or unsought, is to misunderstand Love and to make prayer the safe-valve for wrong-doing.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 6:17.)
You and your family are also welcome to join us at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, where you can hear this powerful lesson read, along with hymns and a sacred solo. Your children are always welcome in our Sunday School, where they will love discussing the Bible stories contained in the Lesson and related passages from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health. Your smaller children will receive loving care in our Children’s Room.
Come join us on Sunday, or at our 7:30 p.m. Wednesday testimony meeting. You are most welcome.
