August 6-12: “Spirit.”
Golden Text: “The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” (Job 33:4)
This Bible Lesson opens our thought to consider God, our Father-Mother, as Spirit, and ourselves — Her children — as spiritual.
“O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches. Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewst the face of the earth… The glory of the Lord shall endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works.” (Psalms 104: 24, 30.) ”
“Inspired thought relinquishes a material, sensual, and mortal theory of the universe, and adopts the spiritual and immortal.
“It is this spiritual perception of Scripture, which lifts humanity out of disease and death and inspires faith.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 457: 28-32.)
